Why 25 chunks is more than “twice as far”
The linear radius rises 108.3%, from 12 to 25. Area grows in two dimensions. Using the square approximation (2r + 1)², radius 12 covers 25 × 25 = 625 chunk columns, while radius 25 covers 51 × 51 = 2,601. That is 4.16 times the potential area, or about 316% more.
This is a geometric upper-bound illustration, not a Realms CPU or RAM benchmark. Client and server loading, culling, and priorities differ, and visible chunks are not necessarily simulated chunks. It explains the larger horizon; it does not prove a 4.16× resource increase.
Render distance is not simulation distance
